About Us

Analytica was set up in 2005 to support agencies working to improve quality of life by tackling social exclusion, increasing community safety and improving justice systems.

We are committed to delivering services of the highest quality and achieve this with individuals who not only have excellent process skills but also specialist subject knowledge. In a short period we have built a strong reputation for not just meeting client needs but exceeding expectations.

Analytica is led by Dr Sohail Husain and we work with a network of experienced associates. Short profiles of our team are provided below.

Dr Sohail Husain Sohail Husain BA PhD

Sohail is a highly experienced adviser, researcher and trainer specialising in justice reform, violence and crime prevention, community safety and urban renewal. He is currently a Senior Evaluation Adviser to UN Women on its Global Programme for Safe Cities for Women and Children and lead evaluator for the 4-country Gender Inclusive Cities programme. In 2008 he was appointed Expert Adviser to the European Commission on crime prevention and criminal justice.

As an accredited Justice Adviser to the Department for International Development, he worked in Romania, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo, and completed UN-funded assignments in Lithuania and South Africa. He is a Civilian Expert for the UK Stabilisation Unit, which supports post-conflict states, and has worked as a strategic adviser to the Governments of Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.

In the UK, Sohail has contributed to the shaping of government policy, legislation and programmes; been a member of many advisory/expert groups for the Home Office, Social Exclusion Unit, National Audit Office & Audit Commission; and has contributed widely to our understanding of effective practice through his research and publications.

From 2001-05 he was Deputy Chief Executive of Crime Concern. From 1976-89 he was Lecturer in Geography at Southampton University and head of its Urban Policy Research Unit.
